Allotment update news

A team of volunteers from PAWS and the PAA got together on Saturday 16 November to clear the ground at the end of the allotments and plant a fruiting hedgerow, thanks to a gift of young plants from The Woodland Trust. An enthusiastic band cleared ivy, nettles and rubbish, and with the help of a huge bonfire the site was cleared and all the small plants safely installed in one morning. The hedgerow consists of elderberries, crabapples, hazel and hawthorn, so it should be very bird- and animal-friendly when it gets going.  Many thanks to the Woodland Trust, to all the volunteers, and to the Parish Council for their permission to use the site.
