Pangbourne Allotments update

The allotments, administered by Pangbourne Parish Council, are situated on the edge of the village to the south, with the entrance on Grahame Avenue (off Kennedy Drive).

There are over 50 whole plots (each measuring approximately 10m x 30m) but quite a few are divided into halves or thirds, which still gives a very good growing area. The soil is light and free-draining, but fertile. There are water standpipes dotted around the allotments and the cost of the water is included in the annual rental charge.

For 2013 a whole allotment costs £40 p.a. payable in March, with a discount for prompt payment at present set at 25%; also a small further discount for pensioners. Halves and thirds are pro rata.

You need to live in Pangbourne to be eligible for a plot. At the moment the waiting list is short. If you would like to put your name down, please contact Joanna Power on 0118 984 5898, or email jpower@pangbourne-pc.gov.uk

An Allotment Association was set up in July 2012. The first elected Chairman is Alan Heighway; Secretary: Cathy Pumphrey, and Treasurer: Stuart John, with Joanna Power as the Parish Council representative. If you have any allotment-related matters that you wish us to deal with at the next meeting, would you please contact Mrs Power or the Parish Clerk, Mavis Law, clerk@pangbourne-pc.gov.uk. Alternatively you can visit the Parish Office on Tuesday mornings 10.00 –12.00 or Thursday afternoons 14.00 –16.00.
